Somehow, a collection of neurons, when working together as a system, provides is with the sensation of a self. This is quite similar to Daniel Dennett’s claim to the mind in which the mind is composed of a collection of billions of stupid homunculi performing such simple tasks that they don’t require any hierarchical figure guiding its actions. The man who’s constantly referred to for his great stories that he tells or creates has passed. He pushed more than anyone else to generate new ideas and to think about the work you do and to “GO! Go out and do it!”. He taught us more than we know. He will truly be missed, but never forgotten.
Fashionably Sustainable
I was reading this poem that Dawn Maxey wrote for the Compostmodern conference and it got me thinking. The consequences of making environmentally conscious a fashionable thing is just that fashionable. The problem at hand needs to be consistently addressed or the efforts that have been made are hardly worthwhile. It seems realistic that my generation will have to deal with this problem for the entirity of their lifetime.
Stefan Sagmeister exhibit coming up
Stefan Sagmeister has become of the most influential designers of our time. Bridging the gap of art and design his heavily conceptual works display his brilliant diaristic mind at work. I really wish I could make it out there to see this exhibit.
