It’s been a while, but in the time that I’ve been type nerding it up in the background, I’ve run across some gems by Paul Lloyd. His work seems to be a very academic approach to digitizing old fonts including several victorian and blackletter typefaces.

Type Battles #33: Futura Holiday Dingbats
Every once in a while Typophile hosts a new battle for fellow members to compete in a type nerd’s version of a street battle. The current battle is to create 5 Futura dingbats

Here’s my entry. I’m one of the few to try to do it for Futura Bold. Also, since the limit of the space when dealing with such heavy strokes, I decided to make them very simpler and more iconic. There haven’t been many other entries yet. Any challengers up for the task?
