4v2: For vs. To

Marketing

In the video from the post below, Seth Godin mentions the idea of “For vs. To” in that the people making a difference are the ones doing things for their audience rather than marketers doing things to them. I simply want to enforce this idea and express that this is exactly the reason this blog exists. I want it to serve as a resource for anybody with a love of type, good ideas, design, marketing, and/or culture. Rather than monetizing against something like this, I would much rather know that I am serving as a benefit to others and perhaps provide a platform in which people with similar viewpoints can connect. Therefore, if you are one of these people (or even if you’re not), I’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment and let me know what you think. Also, I will gladly answer any emails at [email protected].

Best,
Paul Stonier

Somehow, a collection of neurons, when working together as a system, provides is with the sensation of a self. This is quite similar to Daniel Dennett’s claim to the mind in which the mind is composed of a collection of billions of stupid homunculi performing such simple tasks that they don’t require any hierarchical figure guiding its actions. It’s extremely interesting and baffling trying to understand the metaphysical quest of defining ones’ self (whether it’s a feeling of identity or finding where the self/mind resides in relation to the body).Jonah Lehrer talks about this on his amazing blog: http://scienceblogs.com/cortex/2008/01/you_are_an_illusion.php and he talks with Debbie Millman about this on Design Matters:http://www.modavox.com/VoiceAmericaBusiness/
